Franklin farmhouse
A 2004 farmhouse with a small island and a butler pantry used as a closet. We rebuilt the island at ten feet and turned the pantry into a second working kitchen.

The brief
What the owners actually asked for
The clients had recently taken on hosting for a large extended family and needed the kitchen to handle volume rather than look different.
The existing cabinetry was in good condition but sized for a smaller household, and the island seated two people awkwardly.
Scope of work
- Island rebuilt at 10 feet with a steel-supported 15 inch overhang for five stools
- Prep sink and beverage fridge added in the island with a new circuit and drain
- Butler pantry rebuilt as a scullery with a second sink and open shelving
- Perimeter cabinetry refaced to match new island millwork
- Williamson County permit and HOA exterior review for the new vent
The result
What changed day to day
- Five stools fit comfortably along one side with real knee room, which is the whole point of a supported overhang.
- The scullery took the coffee station and the second dishwasher out of the main room.
- Refacing the perimeter kept the budget in range while the island carried the design change.
Thanksgiving had four people working at once and nobody had to say excuse me.
